10 Last Minute Things to do on Valentine’s Day (If You Haven’t Made Plans)

It’s one day away and if you haven’t got plans, it’s time to start thinking about it. If you want something more low-key than a reservation at a fancy restaurant, or if you’re not so great at making plans, we’ve got you covered. Here are a few last minute ideas to ramp up the fun in your Valentine’s Day celebrations.

Hit up the Paintball Field
If you’re looking for a unique Valentine’s Day activity? Come play paintball! This couple’s only event features special Valentine’s Day games, photos of you and your significant other geared up in paintball equipment, and hours of paintball fun! Special renter’s entrance of $65 for 2 players (all equipment included – mask, coveralls, gloves, body armor and 200 paintballs). Only one ticket needed per couple.

Silver Skate Festival
The experience begins with delicious cups of gourmet hot chocolate and a festive Valentine’s Day lantern as you wait for your horse-drawn cutter sled ride to begin. You and your date will join another couple on an intimate horse-drawn sleigh ride through lovers’ lane in picturesque Hawrelak Park in Edmonton’s river valley.  Once the ride is over, enjoy many of the free activities the Silver Skate Festival has to offer.

DIY Dessert Crawl
Have there been desserts that you’ve been wanting to try in Edmonton? Make a list and get your own dessert crawl going. Our favourite places to start? Block 1912, or La Boule for delicious eclaires.

Love Grows at the Muttart
Come enjoy an early Valentine’s Day at the Muttart: a place where love blossoms almost as often as our flowers do. Enjoy a meal for two at Culina’s before entering the pyramids where music will serenade you and your partner as you
take part in our numerous romantic activities. Regular admission applies to the Muttart event.

Paint a Picture Together
Smashart is hosting a partner paint night at the Bourbon room. Still searching for something do and want to stretch those creative muscles? You can either work together to create a partner painting, or do your own thing – there’s plenty of options! Get tickets for the Valentine’s Event at the Bourbon Room.

Spend it at the Roller Disco
Why not try something outside the box this year for Valentine’s Day? Whether you’re looking for a creative date, or you’re single looking for a fun way to spend the night we’ve got just the event for you.

Outdoor Disco Skate
Take a twirl around the City Hall rink with your special someone this Valentine’s Day. Skate or dance to the sounds of 1970s and ‘80s. Roast bannock over an open fire, or enjoy a cup of hot chocolate from the Kids in the Hall Bistro. Free skate and helmet rentals will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Quote Along with the Princess Bride
A quote-a-long The Princess Bride? As you wish! Join Metro Cinema for an inconceivable Valentine’s Day special screening of this timeless classic. We’ll leave the subtitles on so you’ll know exactly when to say “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!” Get ready for a rowdy evening as we cheer for True Love, hope for those who are mostly dead, and much more with Buttercup, Westley, and the rest.

Get Tacos at El Cortez
It’s Taco Tuesday and that means cheap tacos at one of our favourite places in town, El Cortez. Try every single one and try to pick a favourite, and don’t forget to make an order of the delicious fried cauliflower. It’s a delicious Tuesday evening with friends, or your one and only – and celebrating over tacos is a delicious way to do it.

Get Pretzels
Spend Valentine’s lunch together and grab one of the pretzels from Zwick’s before they sell out – they’re a delicious new addition to the 124th Street area, and it’s going to make a great early lunch date. Try the sandwiches, and bring pretzels home for later (trust me, you’re going to want to).
