Stroll Down Candy Cane Lane
If you haven’t taken a stroll down Candy Cane Lane, this would be the perfect weekend to do it. The day before Christmas Eve is a magical time to check out the holiday lights display, and you may even find hot chocolate and carollers. Bundle up and walk, it’s much more magical than driving with the windows down.
Edmonton Winter Segway Trek
Did you know that you can ride the Segways in the winter, too? River Valley Adventure’s 60 min Beginner Winter Segway Trek starts with in-depth training from one of our certified Segway trainers. They will go over the skills and drills for everything you will need to know before heading out on your adventure. The training session usually takes about 30 minutes however everyone learns at a different pace. After the training get ready for the experience of a lifetime! For the remainder of your time you will be taken on a ride through North America’s largest urban parkland! You’ll have the chance to revel in Edmonton’s winter wonderland!
Snowshoe and Stargaze at Elk Island Park
Take Highway 16 East of Edmonton. Once you hit the boundary of Elk Island National Park, continue to drive East along Highway 16 until you see a sign directing you to turn left onto the Elk Island Parkway. Drive North along the Parkway for approximately 15 minutes until you see a sign for the Astotin Lake Day Use Area. Turn left there. After you cross the cattle gate, turn right and continue for a few hundred metres until you reach the large main parking lot. Park there and there will be a sign directing you to the program site.
Free Skate After Dark
Join a fun, adult-only free Skate After Dark on December 23rd! This is a free 18+ only event taking place 7pm – 11pm. The night will be filled with prize giveaways, photo booth, live DJ, and complimentary hot chocolate.
Zoominescence Festival of Light
This December, Zoominescence, hosted by the Valley Zoo Development Society, will stage a spectacular exhibition of artistic light installations within the unique setting of the Edmonton Valley Zoo. The festival’s vision is to celebrate light, artistry, imagination and the strong spirit of our community in the winter. With a skating rink, maze, fire dancers, ice, light exhibits and 11 artist installations what could be a better outing in the cool month of December? Starting December 1st and running every weekend unil December 31st. With special bonus opening on December 26, 27 and 28. Come join us for eighteen days of fun, entertainment, lights and activities.
