The snow is on the ground and we know that many of you are taking your date night inspiration indoors – but it doesn’t have to be that way! We want to encourage you to get outside, and enjoy Edmonton during the winter because let’s face it: Winter is long.
Snow Tubing at Sunridge
Snow tubing is the best thing to happen to winter and Sunridge has the only Snow Tubing Park around. With a dedicated tubing lift (so you don’t have to walk up the hill), three groomed chutes down one of our main hills, and special tubes provided by us, you won’t find a better outdoor winter activity. Plus, it’s only two hours – and you can warm up with drinks when you’re finished.
Hit up a Patio
Yes, you heard us right. We said patio. Just because it’s winter doesn’t mean that you’ve got to give up your outdoor lifestyle. Bundle up and head to one of the local Edmonton winter patios, and sit around a fire, sipping hot beverages. You might just like it – and if anything, you’ll get some of that winter sunshine on your cheeks. Find the full list of winter patios in Edmonton, here.
Full Moon Snowshoe Tours
Get immersed in the wonders of the wilderness under the soft glow of the moon. In contrast, on our New Moons Tours, we will have no glow from the moon, allowing for the stars to shine brightly as we learn about the stories of the area. Our staff will have some hot chocolate with a roaring bonfire to warm the hands and roast a S’more or two before heading home. Get the details and register for an upcoming tour via Haskin Canoe.
Explore the Deep Freeze Fest
Get outside on Saturday & Sunday, January 13 & 14, 2018 and embrace the cold northern climate by enjoying artistic panache and authentic cultural and heritage winter games and fun at the annual Deep Freeze Fest in Edmonton.
Visit the Edmonton Ice Castle
For the third year in a row, the massive “Narnia-like” Ice Castle will be back in Hawrelak Park later this year. The attraction will open in December, and as always, the magical experience will leave you in awe. Bring along your skates and spend some time skating on the nearby rink, as a way to offset the bit of a splurge that the trip to the Ice Castles can be.
