The SWEFM focuses on bringing the finest local producers to the heart of Terwillegar. At the market, you can get access to the local products Edmonton producers offer during the week, and skip the busy-ness of the market on the weekend. It’s also a great stop for those mid-week groceries, treats, or a visit to one of our favourite local food trucks, Bully!
Bully Mac and Pretzel Crusted Chicken – Bully Food Truck
A blend of six different cheeses topped with crispy breadcrumbs. Chicken breast stuffed with turkey, breaded in pretzel crumbs, served on a bed of rice and side of fresh greens.
Spicy Banana Ketchup – Jamaican Chefmon
Invented when the citizens of the Caribbean experienced a tomato shortage during the second world war. This savoury sauce can be used on tortilla chips, as a marinade, or substitute for regular ketchup to spice up your meals.
Salted Caramel Macarons – Sandra’s Macarons
Made with almonds imported from Slovenia and hand ground into flour by Sandra herself, separated by a layer of rich buttercream, you can taste the hours of work invested in this sweet confection. Flavours rotate weekly and include S’more, Birthday cake, Saskatoon Berry, Pink Lemonade, and Pistachio.
Garlic Herb & Cheese Sourdough – Baza Bread
A handmade confection of garlic cloves, cheddar cheese, and the freshest herbs baked in a stone oven. Bread does not get more authentic than this, and you’ve got to add this one to your list of things to try from the market.
Weekly Special – Holden Colony
Grown on a farm only one hour from Edmonton, the colony boasts some of the freshest produce in the city. Each week they offer a $10 special of rotating produce-this week included bell peppers, cucumber, and tomatoes. Perfect for barbecue season, it’s a great chance to try something new each week.
The Southwest Edmonton Farmer’s Market is open on Wednesday nights, between 4 pm and 7:30 pm at 2051 Leger Road, NW. Find the vendor list and learn more about the community market at http://www.swefm.ca/
