Hidden Gem: Stages Kitchen and Bar

Stages Kitchen and Bar is hard to find – if you’re not sure what you’re looking for. Tucked away in the Doubletree in one of those places you’ll mostly drive right by. Whether you want an affordable three course meal or you’re searching for great wings, you’re going to want to check it out.

There are many menu options. If you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for – like us, you might have a difficult time choosing.

We were divided between the group of us, half choosing the three course seasonal menu and half choosing the regular menu items. The three course seasonal table menu changes every two months, if you’re in the mood for three courses. For under fifty bucks you can order an appetizer, entree and dessert (like the delicious lemongrass creme brulee that we ended the meal with). The combinations are endless –

In addition to the seasonal menu, you’ve got those classics, the go-to comfort food that’s fast, and delicious. The beef dip sandwich with cactus cut fries was a favourite at our table, and the chicken wings are worth a trip back to the bar.

Coq a Vin Stages Bar and GrillThe Coq a vin was a solid choice, accompanied with roasted vegetables. The flavour was great, and the dish size was generous. As part of the three course seasonal menu, it fit perfectly. The beef dip and cactus cuts, another delicious choice. Beef Dip

The hot wings were the perfect combination of juicy and crisp, with just enough sauce. One person at our table ordered wings to start, and I think we were all thankful that we decided to split the appetizers so everyone got a taste of everything – they were tasty.

Our recommendation? Try it more than once. For a leisurely meal, try the three course seasonal menu, and change it up every couple of months as the seasonal menu changes. For a fast meal or great wings, make a quicker, more casual trip and try the hot wings with the delicious trio of dipping sauces.

Be sure to leave room for dessert. There’s a chocolate dish and a lemongrass creme brulee that you’re not going to want to miss.
