Victoria IceWay Skating Trail
One of the most popular spots in the city for skating, the ice way is a popular spot because of the colored lights that you can skate under every year. The warming hut is a popular spot because it’s a comfortable and warm place to put on skates, take off skates, and warm up while you’re there. Bring S’mores and find a fire pit to explore while you’re there. The loop begins at the trail on the far side of the rink, and coasts under the trees, where you’ll find the coloured pathway.

Ice District Plaza
The newest skating area in Edmonton, this centrally located rink offers maintained ice and with the rink’s central location, you are just a short walk away from local coffee shops, restaurants, and more.

Rundle Park Iceway
Another popular ice way, you can head over to Rundle Park for outdoor skating in Edmonton. Rundle Park is a popular spot because of the length of the rink. At 2km, it’s a great way to get outside and skate the distance in the heart of the river valley.

City Hall
Lace up those skates and head to City Hall Outdoor rink. Through the winter, there are often special programming days on the weekend that can include learn to skate programs, live music, and much more. The bonus of being downtown is the easy access to places to warm up with hot food and drinks, the down side (or the up side if you can consider that you can park in a heated underground lot) is finding parking downtown.

Alberta Legislature Grounds
In the winter, the south grounds of Alberta’s Legislature are converted into a winter wonderland. Skate among the whimsical holiday lights overlooking the North Saskatchewan River, and take a walk after your skate to check out the lights on the north grounds: equally as beautiful!

Close the day with a cozy fire at one of their many public fire pits.
