Deep Freeze: A Byzantine Winter Festival

SnowDays Festival
When: Jan 18-29
Where: Banff
Every January Banff and Lake Louise come together for a Snowdays celebration. Life sized ice sculptures are lit up and displayed in downtown Banff. From Wednesday to Sunday each week you can bike, climb, slide and play at the Play Zone, a free activity to celebrate the joy of snow. Other events include dog sledding at Lake Louise, Ice Skating on Lake Louise and skiing at one of the 3 ski resorts.

Jasper in January
When: January 13-29
Where: Jasper
Celebrate with Jasper as they are hosting their 30th Jasper in January. The whole town is the site for this festivals as there are experiences and events everywhere. Ski the mountains at Marmot Basin, trek through Maligne Canyon, explore the food scene or head to the Pyramid Winter Fete. There is no shortage of thing to discover at Jasper in January.

Chiseled Ice Carving Competition
When: Jan 24-26
Where: Edmonton Ice District
Teams of carvers have 34 hours to turn their ice blocks into master pieces. This Edmonton favourite event has a new location and new name. For the first time ever Chiseled will take place at Ice District. This event is open to the public and has free entry. There will be demonstrations all weekend and you will be able to vote for the best sculpture. Chippers ice chipping classes are also available to join with donation.

Chinook Blast

Chinook Blast is the winter festival that brings Calgary together. This inclusive event brings all the communities together to showcase Calgary. There is music festivals, art installations, snow rodeos, rally cross, night markets and outdoor sports to enjoy.
